RAVEN Laboratory Informatics II
Position Summary:
The RAVEN Laboratory Informatics (RLI II) provides management of laboratory informatics systems including deployment, upgrades, end user training, end user adoption/support, troubleshooting, issue tracking, change control, system procedural manuals and implementation of the RAVEN and Clinical Decision support. This role supports laboratorians, physicians, nurses, and other clinicians and responds to RAVEN-related requests. The RLI II demonstrates independent decision making as appropriate in evaluation of requests for system improvements and determines feasibility and advisability of system changes. The RLI II works closely with clinicians, departmental leadership, Quality, Patient Safety, and Information Systems staff to clarify needs, prioritize requests, design workflow to fit with electronic systems, execute change and facilitate adaptation to the RAVEN. The RLI II will maintain the PathNet system including verification of updates, medical device interfaces, and quality control maintenance, to include reagent maintenance within the RAVEN system. The RLI II will be required to work 2-4 shifts per month in the main laboratory on the bench as a technician to maintain competency and familiarization with the RAVEN system in practice. The RLI II may be expected to complete other duties as assigned by the RAVEN Administrator.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree including successful completion of an Accredited MT program
- Three years experience in all areas of the lab.
- Certification at MT by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or CLS by National Accrediting (NCA) within one year of employment.
- Must have computer skills needed to access computerized medical records. Office machines (i.e., multi-line telephone, copy machine, fax machine).
- Knowledge of general lab functions including hematology, chemistry, special chemistry, urinalysis, serology, blood banking, microbiology, and coagulation.
- Working knowledge of requirements of Lab Quality Assurance and Point of Care testing per NCCLs & CAP and the Joint Commission.
- Knowledge or experience with concepts and principles related to total quality management, team process and change theory.
- Minimum competency with software applications including Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio and Project.
- Will be expected to be on call one out of six to eight weeks as second tier support for troubleshooting problems to identify if the particular issue is one that can be handled by the IT department at YKHC or one that would better be handled by Application Management Services (AMS).
