The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC) is located in the Southwestern Alaska town of Bethel, with a total of approximately 6,000 people. YKHC supports 1500 employees, providing the health services to a primarily Yup'ik Eskimo Native population for an area the size of Oregon. Services are provided through a Bethel located hospital and 50 clinics throughout the YK Delta.
Position Summary:
- Maintains the Corporation's treasury function under the supervision of the Controller and in accordance with Corporate By-Laws, Grant and Contract Agencies requirements, GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles), Cash Management Policy and State and Federal laws.
- Duties include but are not limited to: Cash management, banking, bank reconciliations and debt management. These job duties involve the preparation of journal entries. The Treasury reviews the cash management, investment, brokerage and bank information each day for accuracy, completeness and reasonableness.
- Assists the Controller in the preparation of financial reports for all YKHC departments, pension contributions, indirect cost proposals and other required general ledger based reports on a timely basis, as directed.
- Implements cash management, investment management, debt management and banking management financial policies and procedures and other internal controls as directed.
- Projects cash flows and prepare a report summary of cash transactions on a daily basis.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management preferred. In lieu of degree, 5 years of healthcare and fund accounting systems or management experience.
- Valid Driver’s License or ability to acquire within six months of hire.
- Ability to write formulas and equations and create and modify spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel. Ability to compose letters in Microsoft Word. Ability to create presentations in Microsoft Power Point.
- Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills to relate effectively with department directors, administration and employees. Employment reference letters, written performance evaluations and personal interviews, can document evidence of interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to analyze and solve journal entry issues and tasks.
