Respiratory Therapy Lead
Position Summary:
Manages the Cardio-Pulmonary (Respiratory) Department's operations. Provides direct patient care for inpatients, outpatients and Emergency Services and operates all respiratory equipment and monitors. Provides overall administration of department programs in accordance with accepted national standards within the guidelines of the hospital and department mission statement.
Position Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited American Medical Association Program or equivalent.
- Minimum Experience: Five years post graduate experience in Respiratory Services in a hospital setting preferred. Two years experience at a supervisory level preferred. Computer experience desirable.
- License, Certification, Registration: National Board of Respiratory Certification (NBRC). Basic Life Support (BLS). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) desirable.
- Equipment/Tools: Office equipment (i.e., computers, multi-line telephones, copiers, fax machine, etc.)

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages five (5) employees and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
