Service Desk Technician
With Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, Alaska, you’ll serve the over 50 rural communities in the Yukon Delta Region who come to us for care. Serving the people of Southwestern Alaska, the Yukon-Kuskokwim Hospital is a 50-bed general acute care medical facility. Fully accredited by TJC, services include adult med/surg, pediatrics, obstetrics, emergency room, as well as outpatient family medicine clinics, pharmacy, lab, and imaging.
Position Summary: The Service Desk Technician’s role is to ensure proper computer operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end user help requests. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as require that the individual give in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level. This includes working with Technology Support Service providing on-line, real time support and first-line troubleshooting on all YKHC clinical, financial, and micro-computer hardware and software, telecommunications hardware and software, all peripheral fax/copier hardware and software, and coordinating maintenance services by outside vendors. The Service Desk Technician will maintain and log all TSS calls to the support center database application for call tracking and SLA requirements.
Position Qualifications:
- AA in Information Technologies
- Computer management, Computer information services management, computer engineer
- Must have at least 2 year working experience within IT help desk or equivalent
- Have a minimum of 2-year experience in general desk top experience with hardware and business applications such as word processing, databases, spreadsheets and operating systems
- Prefer completion of the A+ certification
- Valid State of Alaska Drivers License or equivalent
- An A+ certification is preferred
- The A+ certification will be required within the completion of the employee’s 90-day probation period
- Corporate PC’s, Macintosh, telephones, copiers, fax machines, and other IMS authorized computer accessories
- Language skills: Ability to read a limited number of two and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability t o print and speak simple sentences.
- Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Technical skills: A basic understanding of computer technology and terms such as operating systems, hardware, office automation applications, peripheral installations (printers, scanners, monitors, etc.).
