Primary Care Itinerant APC Coordinator
Position Summary:
The Itinerant Advanced Practice Clinicians (APC) Program Coordinator is a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), supervising clinic patient care rotations for a core group of Itinerant Resident PAs/NPs and other Itinerants in the Advanced Practice Clinicians Program. The Coordinator manages complex rotations for village patient care coverage for both Resident Itinerants and Experienced Itinerants. The Coordinator also sets criteria for patients to be seen, clinical skills evaluation, and on-going training for the ACPs, designed to develop new ACPs in all areas of patient care for the YK Delta Region. In addition, the Itinerant ACP Program Coordinator shall be committed to contributing to the mission of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC), “Working Together to Achieve Excellent Health.” Provides regular “float” coverage to YKHC village clinics as assigned, and mentors new ACPs in the program while providing primary (acute, chronic and preventive) health care and emergency care to those seeking health services at the village clinic.
Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education:
PA/NP must have completed an approved Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Training Program and received and maintained certification and licensure. -
Minimum Experience:
Minimum four years of experience in Outpatient Clinic environments. Experience should include all aspects of family practice, routine and emergency/urgent care and chronic patient care for adults, pediatric, OBGYN, and prenatal care. Should be confident in suturing, splinting, and other emergency care/procedures. -
License, Certification, Registration:
Must have or obtain Alaska License and DEA license and National Certification for credentials. -
Equipment/Tools/Word-Aids:
Must have the computer skills needed to access electronic medical records. -
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Needs the skills and knowledge to practice medicine in the area of their specialty. -
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises all Advanced Practice Clinicians in the Primary Care Itinerant APC Program.
Ability to supervise and mentor NP/PA students and oversee community Health Aide clinical practice.
